Fort Bend Christian Academy is looking for an Assistant Volleyball Coach who sees athletics as an opportunity to glorify God and enjoy Him by discipling players off the court, striving for excellence on the court, loving our neighbors through the court, and sending our players out as instruments of righteousness into the world.
Job Title/Duties: Upper School Assistant Volleyball Coach - Stipend Position
Reports to: Head Volleyball Coach, Assistant Athletic Director, Director of Athletics
Qualifications:

- Shall be one who follows Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and can articulate the Gospel and their testimony in any situation.
- Has a strong history of active participation, attendance, or membership in a church with doctrine and beliefs that are in alignment with the school’s Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality and have multiple references able to verify the same.
- Will provide examples of systematically using the game of volleyball to disciple young people in the past and can point to former players out in the world currently doing the same thing (Proverbs 22:6).
- Has proven success as a Head Coach or coordinator at the varsity level in a private school or UIL 3A level and above.
- Will be able to give tangible evidence of investing in their community for God’s glory.
- Shall be a college graduate and one who is passionate about the school’s mission and believes that serving in Christian education would be pleasing to God and good stewardship of their gifts and talents.
Job Duties:
Spiritual:
- Systematically create opportunities to share the Gospel and grow disciples through the game of volleyball (Mathew 4:19).
- Lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ (Psalm 62:1-2).
- Coach in a way that gives glory to God through the game of volleyball (Colossians 3:23).
- Serve as a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions, a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).
- Show by example the importance of Scripture memorization and study, prayer, witnessing, and unity in Christian fellowship (Psalm 119:11).
- Create opportunities to use the game of volleyball as a vehicle to love our neighbors (Mark 12:31).
- Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration.
Personal:
- Demonstrate the character qualities of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control in their interactions with others.

General Responsibilities:
- Cooperate with administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school (Romans 13).
- The applicant shall demonstrate a familiarity with the operations of a school athletic program and possess the personality and administrative skills required for success (Luke 12:42-48).
- Maintain regularly scheduled hours as assigned by the supervisor.
- Keep students, parents, coaches and the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies and give sufficient notice of failure (Matthew 5:37).
- Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered work environment.
- Support the broader program of the school by attending extra-curricular activities when possible.
Professional:
- Utilize educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth including the systematic scheduling of athletic events around all on-campus staff development opportunities.
- Seek the counsel of the principal, colleagues, and parents while maintaining a teachable attitude.
- Provide input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school.
- Attend and participate in scheduled devotional, in-service retreats, committee, and faculty meetings.
- Follow established procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature. Maintain First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Contribute to the general improvement of the school program.
- Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.
Upper School Assistant Volleyball Coach
- Assist Head Volleyball Coach in setting up a systematic plan for using the game of volleyball to disciple athletes daily.
- Assist Head Volleyball Coach in overseeing the entire Upper School and Middle School volleyball program, including but not limited to promotion of the volleyball program. Develop practice and game schedules, monitor and enforce student eligibility for extracurricular participation, oversee cleaning, repair and secure storage of equipment and uniforms, ensure compliance with all TAPPS regulations.
- Assist Head Volleyball coach in Implementing preseason, in-season, postseason and offseason plans - including summer camps.
- Assist Head Volleyball Coach with administrative duties such as picking officials, scheduling sub-varsity games, etc.
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, including in an outdoor environment.
- Ability to bend, stoop, walk, reach overhead, frequently lift and/or move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- This position is an exempt, twelve month, part-time assignment. The position regularly requires that work be performed evenings and weekends. This job description is subject to change during the school year.
