Description

Fort Bend Christian Academy is seeking a Director of Athletics for the 2024-2025 school year.

 

Fort Bend Christian Academy seeks a dynamic Director of Athletics to oversee its comprehensive Athletics Program, including all middle and upper school sports. He or she will develop the athletic program, which includes selecting and mentoring exceptional Christian coaches and providing student-athletes with a premier athletic experience at all levels. FBCA seeks candidates who will support the overall mission and vision of the institution and can represent the school in all athletic matters. The ideal candidate will exhibit excellent speaking and communication skills and serve on FBCA’s Executive Leadership Team.

 

Qualifications:

  • Mature Christian who supports FBCA’s Statement of Faith and whose lifestyle is consistent with the school’s Declaration of Values.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a strong preference for a Master’s degree in business administration, sports management, or educational leadership.
  • 3-5 years of experience in athletic leadership and management, preferred.
  • Record of coaching experience at the upper school or collegiate level, preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and effectively communicates with all school stakeholders.
  • An engaging, positive, creative, and personable attitude.
  • Competency in operations and implementing best athletic practices in an independent Pre-K-12 Christian school.
  • Care and concern for the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgment in making decisions.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary.


Scope of Responsibilities:

 

The Director of Athletics responsibilities include the following:

  • Assist and report to the Head of School and participate as a member of the FBCA Executive Leadership Team.
  • Establish and implement a clear mission and philosophy of athletics that is consistent with the mission and philosophy of the school.
  • Oversee the advancement of the athletic program from Pre-K to Grade 12.
  • Evaluate and develop all FBCA coaches, ensuring that each person is performing their duties at the highest level of professionalism and cultivating programs focused on player development and good sportsmanship and Christian behavior.
  • Oversee the school’s athletic budget, including operations such as transportation, supplies, uniforms, and professional development.
  • Encourage professional development for all coaches as well as the athletic office staff.
  • Communicate consistently with all coaches, parents and student-athletes to ensure the success of all athletic teams within the school.
  • Ensure compliance with all TAPPS guidelines and regulations, including student academic records and eligibility.
  • Review and maintain athletic policies and procedures each year and host meetings with coaches to review the information and standards in detail.
  • Collaborate with the FBCA Athletic Booster Club and the Office of Advancement on issues of fundraising and program needs.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and security of all athletic equipment and facilities and coordinate game day management and schedules.
  • Attend weekly executive leadership meetings.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Head of School.
