Fort Bend Christian is seeking an Educational Technology Specialist for the 2018-2019 school year. 

Position Summary: The Educational Technology Specialist works with faculty, staff, and students through the selection, design, production and implementation of instructional and educational solutions to integrate technology into courses, processes, and workflows. The Educational Technology Specialist works with faculty and students to implement instructional design principles and insure the effective utilization of technology in the creation of faculty and student projects, workshops, and instructional courseware/media development.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and conduct workshops in the use of technologies for faculty, staff, and students
• Assist teachers in their classrooms and provide training on the enhancement of instructional-technology use.
• Model the integration of technology
• Assist faculty with incorporating discipline specific technologies in the following areas:
• Utilizing existing resources available on campus, over the Internet, from other organizations, or commercially distributed
• Utilizing the learning management system (LMS)
• Expanding their teaching methods and gain confidence in using multimedia classrooms (using simulations, presentations, computer- or technology-assisted methods)
• Training and Instruction
• Manage the use of the LMS (Learning Management System) and serve as the primary support person for faculty, staff, and students as well as the institutional contact for the school.
• Facilitate horizontal and vertical continuity of the instructional technology program
• Develop relationships with vendors, peer institutions and academic organizations in order to foster and increase the use of instructional technology in the school.
• Communicate with and educate users of varying technical knowledge
• Assist ITS in the development of future instructional technology needs
• Create and support electronic resources such as an Instructional Technology website, knowledge base, FAQs, help guides, etc.
• Assess the institution as a whole in the effective use of technology, with faculty/staff and students.
• Develop a plan to address deficiencies found in assessment
• Work with Information Technology Services as needed at the helpdesk, or with planned projects.

Education/Experience

Degree in instructional design/technology or equivalent appropriate academic preparation, plus experience in an educational or training setting is required. Comprehensive knowledge of educational/instructional technology, software, and multimedia development on various platforms.

Organizational Relationships

The Educational Technology Specialist is a member of Information Technology Services. The Technologist will report to the Director of Information Technology. In addition to working closely with members of the faculty, s/he may also work collaboratively with other members of Information Technology, staff, and students.
